Example app
Run the whole flow against the real native module, with policies built from what's installed.
The repository's example/ app runs Upwell against
the real native module and expo-updates. Its policy presets are built from the installed build and
runtime, so you can watch every rule work on a real device:
| Preset | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Up to date | latest equals the installed build |
| Newer in store | A recommendation for the next version |
| Stranded | latestRuntimeVersion bumped past the installed runtime |
| Stranded 20 days | Stranded beyond strandedRequireAfterDays → required |
| Below minimum | minimum above the installed build → required |
It also includes the dev menu (simulation), <WhatsNew />, and the full UI kit with theming.
Run it
git clone https://github.com/updateswell/upwell.git
cd upwell
npm install && npm run build
cd example && npm install
npx expo run:android # or: npx expo run:iosBuilds from expo run:android are sideloaded, so Play flows fall back to a store link. Use the dev menu's
simulation to see the Play flows (it drives FakeAppUpdateManager in the native module), or install
through Play internal app sharing.
Metro may miss file changes in this setup when watchman isn't installed. Restart it with
npx expo start --clear after editing the library.
